Microsoft Reportedly Tried to Make a New Fallout Game Without Bethesda, But It Failed
It appears that a new gaming project within Microsoft has encountered significant hurdles.
According to recent insider reports, Microsoft reportedly made an attempt to develop a new title within the acclaimed Fallout franchise without the direct involvement of its primary custodian, Bethesda Game Studios.
Renowned industry insider Jeff Gerstmann revealed that an internal team belonging to Xbox Game Studios was reportedly tasked with this ambitious project.
While Gerstmann did not disclose any specific details regarding this potential new Fallout game, he speculated that the project has most likely been shelved or canceled.
"The Fallout project was being developed at another Microsoft-owned studio, but, as I understand it, it will most likely never see the light of day. As for remakes: it seems to me that [Bethesda] themselves will not make them. I think they will be outsourced. For example, I believe the Fallout 3 remake will be entrusted to an external studio. However, I think that new games will continue to be developed by the same key people [from Bethesda], and they will probably still have fairly serious control over the franchise."
