Mortal Shell II Developers Showcase First Brutal Soulslike Gameplay
The highly anticipated game is expected to launch on PC and consoles by the end of 2026.
Cold Symmetry studio has officially unveiled the first gameplay trailer for their dark soulslike sequel, Mortal Shell II. This installment aims to preserve the core elements that defined the original, while significantly broadening the scope and depth of its gameplay experience.
The recently published trailer offers an in-depth look at three distinct playable "shells": Tiel, the Acolyte; Eredrim, the Venerable; and Proxima, the Broodmother. Each shell is designed to provide a unique combat style and tactical approach, empowering players to experiment with diverse strategies to adapt to various in-game scenarios.
The narrative unfolds in the familiar, yet extensively redesigned region of Fallgrim. This area has been transformed into an open world characterized by a marshy and cold atmosphere. Moving away from the more linear and confined environments of its predecessor, the sequel places a strong emphasis on exploration. Despite this expanded design, the developers stress that the world will maintain a compact structure, ensuring high content density and respecting players' time by avoiding unnecessary padding.
