Nacon Facing Hard Times? Three Prominent Studios Enter Judicial Reorganization
French publisher NACON is currently facing significant financial challenges, leading three of its key development studios – Spiders, Kylotonn, and Cyanide – to file for insolvency. This move comes as a direct consequence of the parent company's own financial difficulties, which saw it initiate creditor protection procedures earlier this year.
All three studios have now formally entered a process of judicial reorganization. This legal mechanism provides for a temporary suspension of their financial obligations and establishes an observation period that could extend up to 18 months. During this critical time, the companies are tasked with developing a comprehensive debt restructuring plan and implementing necessary measures to stabilize and improve their financial standing.
Spiders is widely recognized for its work on the acclaimed GreedFall series, while Cyanide has garnered recognition for projects such as Styx. Kylotonn, on the other hand, is well-regarded for its contributions to the World Rally Championship (WRC) game franchise. Interestingly, in addition to these established game development studios, Nacon Tech – a division specializing in motion capture technology – has also filed for insolvency.
Previously, NACON had publicly stated that the actions taken were aimed at "analyzing all possible solutions to ensure the stability of operations." The current situation clearly indicates a significant impact on both the publisher itself and its core development studios, raising questions about their future trajectories.
