Pragmata: Hacking Puzzles and Dynamic Combat Unveiled for Futuristic New York
The sci-fi action game Pragmata is set to release on April 17th for PC and consoles. New details regarding its gameplay have been revealed.
At the core of the gameplay is the interaction between two heroes. Hugh battles hostile robots using a variety of weapons, but their robust armor makes conventional attacks largely ineffective. This is where Diana's hacking skills come into play.
When a target is acquired, Diana activates a special panel – a grid on which she must draw a continuous line through blue cells. A successful hack deals damage to robots and temporarily disables their defenses. The longer the drawn line, the stronger the effect. During the hacking process, enemies continue to attack, requiring Hugh to dodge while Diana focuses on her task.
Some adversaries are protected by red energy shields that completely block hacking attempts. These must first be destroyed with weapons. Additionally, certain enemies launch homing missiles that can be intercepted via hacking and redirected back at them.
Hugh has access to four types of weapons. Besides his primary weapon, the other three are consumable and break after their ammunition is depleted.
Special nodes, appearing as yellow cells, can emerge on the hacking panel. Activating these grants bonus effects, such as reducing enemy defenses or spreading the hack to multiple targets. However, the resource for activating these nodes is limited and must be used strategically.
In safe havens, players can restore health and upgrade their gear and weapons using collected resources.
