Resident Evil Requiem Tops US February Sales Chart
Resident Evil Requiem has emerged as the leading video game in US sales for February 2026, according to the latest monthly report from Mat Piscatella, Senior Director and industry expert at the analytical firm Circana. Analysts are already eyeing the game as a potential best-seller for the entire year 2026.
Despite the new Capcom title's impressive performance, the overall consumer spending on video games across the US remained consistent with the previous year's figures. A critical factor in preventing a market downturn was the substantial contribution from subscription services, including Xbox Game Pass, PlayStation Plus, and Nintendo Switch Online. Spending on these services saw a significant 27% increase compared to February 2025 (partially due to price adjustments), effectively compensating for any potential decline in other market segments.
Resident Evil Requiem not only secured the top spot in February but is also firmly positioned as a strong contender for one of the top-selling games in the US for 2026. Its launch sales were a remarkable 60% higher than those of Resident Evil Village, with total copies sold surpassing 6 million. While experts suggest that maintaining the number one position throughout the entire year might be challenging, the game is widely expected to comfortably remain within the top 20 best-selling titles.
