Roskomnadzor Finds No Grounds to Block Minecraft in Russia
Roskomnadzor and Russian authorities currently see no reason to block the popular game Minecraft, despite earlier reports of fraudulent activity within the game.
It has been reported that Roskomnadzor has not yet received any demands from Russian law enforcement agencies to block Minecraft. The regulatory body clarified that restricting access to fraudulent or misleading public information (presented as reliable news) is only possible through a court decision recognizing the information as prohibited, or a demand from the Prosecutor General or their deputies to restrict access to the information resource. No such decisions or demands have been issued concerning Minecraft.
Previously, reports emerged detailing how scammers target children in Minecraft, subsequently moving their communication to Telegram. These perpetrators, posing as "cybersecurity employees," then manipulate their young victims into stealing money from their parents.
It is worth noting that Minecraft is officially unavailable for users in Russia via platforms like Steam, the App Store, and Google Play.
