Shift Up Unveils Project Spirits, Drawing Inspiration from Clair Obscur: Expedition 33

Shift Up, the South Korean studio renowned for the action-packed title Stellar Blade, is reportedly engaged in the development of several new projects.

Beyond the highly anticipated Stellar Blade sequel, which is expected to launch across multiple platforms, the team is also working on a new game operating under the codename "Project Spirits."

Project Spirits is reportedly targeting a release in 2027. Intriguingly, the game is said to be directly inspired by Clair Obscur: Expedition 33.

This suggests that Shift Up may be venturing into new territory by adopting a turn-based combat system for Project Spirits, potentially following the design philosophy seen in Sandfall Interactive's approach.

According to sources, the development of Project Spirits is primarily being handled externally by Chinese developers. Shift Up's core Korean team, meanwhile, is dedicating its efforts to the continuation of the Stellar Blade saga. Furthermore, reports indicate a noticeable lack of enthusiasm for Project Spirits among the main studio's internal staff.
