Stellaris Base Game Update: Paradox Integrates DLCs, Raises Price Amidst Fan Discontent
Paradox Interactive has once again stirred its community with significant changes to its acclaimed grand strategy title, Stellaris. The publisher recently announced an overhaul to the base version of the game, including a price adjustment that has drawn attention.
As part of Stellaris's 10th-anniversary celebration, Paradox is making three popular DLCs – Utopia, Synthetic Dawn, and the Humanoids Species Pack – free for all PC players. These expansions, along with most features previously found in the Galaxy Edition upgrade, will be integrated directly into the standard edition of the game, enriching the core experience for new and existing players.
This move, however, comes with a caveat: the base price of Stellaris will increase by $10, effective May 11th. Players looking to purchase the game at its current price have until this date to do so before the new pricing takes effect.
The announcement has, as is often the case with Paradox's strategic shifts, elicited a mixed response from fans. While some appreciate the addition of free content, others express frustration, particularly those who previously purchased these DLCs and now see them become universally accessible without compensation or new value for their existing purchase.
