Studios to Receive Project Helix Dev Kits in 2027
Developers will gain access to alpha versions of Microsoft's highly anticipated Project Helix console.
During the Game Developers Conference 2026, Microsoft Gaming unveiled further details about its upcoming gaming system, codenamed Project Helix. At the Xbox Developer Summit, the company confirmed that alpha developer kits for Project Helix are slated for distribution to studios in 2027.
Jason Ronald, Xbox Vice President for Next-Generation Devices, reaffirmed that Project Helix is conceived as a unified platform supporting both Xbox and PC game versions.
He further elaborated that the system will leverage a custom AMD chip, meticulously optimized for the forthcoming generation of DirectX and AMD's FidelityFX Super Resolution upscaling technology.
Microsoft emphasized that this new architecture will empower developers to craft more realistic and dynamic game worlds, thanks to its enhanced efficiency, scalability, and advanced graphical capabilities.
