Take-Two CEO Confident: Component Issues Won't Delay PlayStation 6 and Next Xbox Release
Rumors of potential delays for next-generation consoles, specifically PlayStation 6 and the successor to Xbox, have been actively circulating within the gaming community. Earlier, analyst David Gibson from MST International raised concerns that the PlayStation 6 might launch later than anticipated, citing the ongoing crisis in the memory and storage market. In February, reports indicated that Sony was considering postponing the console's launch until 2028 or even 2029.
While direct leaks for the next Xbox (codenamed Project Helix) are scarce, the announcement of Alpha dev kit distribution in 2027 has led some to speculate a possible device launch around 2028.
However, despite these growing concerns, Take-Two Interactive CEO Strauss Zelnick expressed unwavering confidence that component pricing and availability issues will not impact the release timelines for these new consoles. In an interview, he unequivocally stated: "We do not foresee this affecting console supply to the market."
Zelnick's stance is considered highly significant, especially given Take-Two's potential to become a dominant player in the gaming market and his likely access to privileged information regarding Sony's and Microsoft's strategic plans.
