Capcom's developers deliberately designed the city to look distorted.

Capcom has recently unveiled fresh insights into its upcoming sci-fi action title, Pragmata.

Ahead of its impending launch, journalists gained access to final previews and a demo version of the project. A significant revelation emerging from these materials concerned the unique nature of the game's environment.

While trailers depict protagonists Hugh and Diana navigating streets reminiscent of New York, this is not, in fact, the real city. Instead, the narrative unfolds within a digital rendition of New York, one that has been entirely generated by artificial intelligence.

Game director Cho Yonghi explained that this 'New York' was intentionally rendered slightly warped to emphasize its artificial origins. Familiar landmarks serve to aid player orientation, yet the surrounding world distinctly feels 'a little off' or unsettling.

Producer Naoto Oyama further detailed the presence of strange anomalies throughout the game, such as taxis inexplicably sinking into the ground or buses seemingly growing out of walls. Despite the overarching concept of AI generation, Oyama confirmed that all these peculiar details were meticulously hand-crafted by the development team to evoke a profound sense of 'uncanny unnaturalness'.
