"This is Madness." Reviewer Spends 205 Hours in Crimson Desert, Only Completes Half the Game
Crimson Desert has significantly redefined the concept of an "enormous open world." One reviewer, Blaine Smith, invested 205 hours into the game yet feels he has only progressed halfway through its content.
His in-game map illustrates that even after more than eight days of continuous gameplay, vast regions (highlighted in red) remain entirely unexplored.
It is estimated that a full playthrough of the game could require 300 to 400 hours, a duration many players liken more to a full-time job than leisure. Only a small fraction of the map indicates areas where over 90% of activities have been completed; the majority consists of unfinished quests and unexplored territories.
The gaming community has reacted with a mix of awe and slight dread. Many users express astonishment, noting that 205 hours of gameplay and only half the content completed seems incredible. It is highlighted that Pearl Abyss has apparently crafted one of the most expansive digital worlds in video game history.
However, such colossal scale raises questions about content quality. Some community members warn of a potential "repetitiveness nightmare," as many side activities might prove tedious, potentially deterring players from exploring optional storylines.
