Ubisoft Reveals Assassin's Creed Shadows Player Stats Amidst Calls for Sales Transparency
Despite continued criticism and the various controversies that preceded its release, Ubisoft has now shared statistics on player engagement for Assassin's Creed Shadows, a year after its initial announcement.
The community has collectively invested over 334 million hours playing the game, vanquishing four billion enemies. Players also sought solace at shrines 159.6 million times and executed more than 58 million iconic Leaps of Faith.
However, these engagement figures have not fully appeased some segments of the player base. Dissatisfied users, such as DemianDevile, are openly calling on Ubisoft to release more crucial data: the actual sales figures for Assassin's Creed Shadows.
DemianDevile articulated their frustration, stating, "It's rather amusing that Ubisoft provides all sorts of numbers except for the number of copies sold. 'Player engagement,' 'number of game sessions,' but sold copies — that's the forbidden number because it objectively reveals how truly successful a game is. I believe all platforms should publish these figures openly to prevent any misrepresentation."
This sentiment underscores a growing desire within the gaming community for greater transparency from publishers regarding a game's commercial performance, beyond just engagement metrics.
