Ubisoft's "Small Miracle": The Challenging Journey to Release Assassin's Creed Shadows
Ubisoft has expressed immense pride in the release of Assassin's Creed Shadows. Thierry Dansereau, the game's art director, described bringing such a massive production to launch in today's environment as a "small miracle." Colleagues from DICE studio corroborate this, stating that releasing games has become one of the most significant challenges in the technology industry.
The scale of the project is staggering: Assassin's Creed Shadows' end credits run for a record two hours, listing thousands of specialists from around the world. Dansereau emphasized that coordinating so many individuals on a modern blockbuster is a true feat, and its success is a result of tremendous collective effort.
The road to release was not without obstacles. Developers faced a wave of criticism and racist comments directed at Yasuke, one of the main characters. Furthermore, Ubisoft management exerted pressure: following the technical issues of Star Wars Outlaws, the premiere of Shadows was intentionally postponed. This extra time was utilized to iron out bugs, aiming to prevent fan disappointment and ensure high quality across all platforms.
