Unexpected Bonus: User Ordered an AMD Cooler and Received a Ryzen 5 Processor as Well
It appears the package was assembled "by mistake."
A Reddit user recently shared an unusual tale of a fortunate online purchase. Instead of just receiving a standard boxed cooler for AMD processors, they unexpectedly found a full-fledged CPU included in the package.
According to the user, they had ordered a regular AMD cooler online (the specific platform was not disclosed). However, upon unboxing, they discovered not only the cooling system but also an AMD Ryzen 5 8400F processor. It seems this assembly was indeed an "error."
The user mentioned they haven't yet had the chance to test the processor's functionality. Visually, it appears genuine: the markings on the integrated heat spreader (IHS) match authentic samples, and the component layout raises no suspicions. While counterfeit Ryzen CPUs, especially more expensive models, have appeared on the market before, no signs of falsification were found in this instance.
The only minor imperfections observed were some small blemishes on the processor's lid. The contact side, however, remains in excellent condition.
The Ryzen 5 8400F is an entry-level processor based on the Zen 4 architecture, featuring 6 cores and 12 threads. Despite its budget positioning, this chip can deliver respectable gaming performance when paired with mid-range graphics cards. Its current retail value is approximately $150.
