NC America, the western division of NCSOFT, has officially announced its role as the publisher for DEFECT, an upcoming cyberpunk first-person shooter. The game is under development by emptyvessel, a studio co-founded by industry veterans known for their significant contributions to critically acclaimed titles such as DOOM and The Last of Us.

Emanuel Palalik, CEO of emptyvessel, highlighted the strategic importance of this partnership. He stated that NCSOFT’s support is vital for a successful global market launch of DEFECT and emphasized that the publisher’s backing helps establish a robust foundation for the game’s extensive single-player campaign.

“In an era where many publishers are moving away from supporting single-player modes, it’s particularly gratifying to see NCSOFT’s confidence in what we are creating,” commented Emanuel Palalik, CEO of emptyvessel.

DEFECT is described as a team-based first-person shooter primarily focused on cooperative multiplayer experiences. However, the game is also slated to offer a comprehensive and engaging single-player mode, aiming to provide a rich narrative alongside its multiplayer action.
