A recent scandal has erupted within the Arc Raiders community following the ban of a player with disabilities.
The user, known as doyoulikePRIMERIB, who is paralyzed (quadriplegic), uses a specialized controller called QuadStick. This device allows him to control his computer and play games using breath (a sip and puff mouth controller). However, Arc Raiders’ anti-cheat system mistakenly identified this accessibility device as a “cheat.”
“I’ve played countless multiplayer and single-player games and have never been banned or resorted to cheats. I am a quadriplegic gamer, so I use a sip-and-puff mouth controller called QuadStick, which allows me to control my computer not only in games but also in daily life.”
After receiving an initial one-month ban, doyoulikePRIMERIB attempted to contact support, but his issue remained unresolved. Upon returning to the game after the ban expired, he was immediately hit with a permanent lifetime ban.
The situation quickly drew the attention of Embark Studios, the game’s developer, which responded to community complaints:
“We’ve become aware that some players using assistive accessibility devices are receiving bans in-game. We are actively working to resolve this issue as quickly as possible. Our support team is reviewing all appeals—please continue to reach out to us if this has happened to you. Thank you for reporting this.”
The studio confirmed that its systems are flagging accessibility devices as “cheats” and promised to investigate the matter thoroughly.
