PlayStation 3 Receives Firmware Update 4.93: Sony Continues Support for its Retro Console

Sony continues to demonstrate support for its aging PlayStation 3 console, having released firmware update version 4.93 in May 2024. As with most minor PS3 updates, Sony did not provide a detailed list of specific changes, instead opting for the standard, concise statement:

“This system software update improves system performance.”

To download and install this new firmware, PlayStation 3 owners will need a minimum of 200 MB of free space on their console’s hard drive.
