The Vast World of Crimson Desert: 6 Hours on Foot to Cross the Map

Developers at Pearl Abyss studio are setting a new standard for game world scale. Will Powers, Head of PR, announced that the map of Crimson Desert is at least twice the size of Skyrim’s world and more expansive than that of Red Dead Redemption 2.

According to the developers, traversing the entire map on foot, from one edge to the other, will take approximately 6 hours, while on horseback it will be around 2 hours. For comparison, if Skyrim’s game world occupies roughly 37 km², then Crimson Desert could span an impressive 74 to 110 km².

The game world is divided into five extensive regions, each featuring unique biomes and cultural characteristics. It will be rich with diverse activities and numerous opportunities for exploration. Travel will be a fundamental part of the gameplay, allowing players to move around on various mounts, utilize gliders, and access a fast-travel system activated after their initial visit to a specific location.

It has also been officially confirmed that the game will feature 29 distinct types of mounts, 401 varieties of beasts and monsters, 76 unique bosses, 110 different factions, and 467 unique non-player characters (NPCs) with their own backstories. All these details suggest that the gameplay will be exceptionally lengthy and rich in content.
