Next-generation Xbox Project Helix is set to integrate AMD’s FSR Diamond technology.

Microsoft and AMD have officially confirmed a significant collaboration on Xbox Project Helix, their upcoming next-generation console. This advanced gaming device is slated to feature RDNA5 architecture and will be deeply integrated with AMD’s innovative FSR Diamond technology, currently under development.

FSR Diamond is poised to become the cornerstone of a revolutionary neural rendering system. It will seamlessly combine ML-based upscaling, AI-driven frame generation, and state-of-the-art ray tracing and path tracing capabilities. The profound integration of this technology with the Xbox GDK (Game Development Kit) is expected to simplify the process for developers, allowing them to effortlessly implement these powerful new rendering techniques across all games on the platform.

AMD’s Jack Huynh on Project Helix and FSR Diamond

Jack Huynh, Senior Vice President and General Manager of Computing and Graphics at AMD, shared his insights:

This is a seminal moment for the future of the gaming industry. We are thrilled to partner with Xbox and Asha Sharma on Project Helix, a long-term engineering project aimed at delivering next-gen performance, revolutionary graphics, and compatibility with the existing Xbox game library.

In support of this experience, we are excited to introduce AMD FSR Diamond, designed with optimization for Project Helix and deep GDK integration in mind:

  • Built for next-gen neural rendering.
  • Next-gen machine learning-based upscaling.
  • New multi-frame machine learning-based generation.
  • Next-gen ray tracing for ray tracing and path tracing.

Thank you to the Microsoft and Xbox teams for the monumental engineering collaboration. Over 20 years of innovation, and we’re moving further than ever. FSR Diamond unlocks a new dimension of innovation. Details coming soon.
