A new map called “Avalon” has arrived in Call of Duty: Warzone, but its introduction has been met with a largely unfavorable response from players. To make way for Avalon, developers removed the classic “Verdansk” map, which was an unwelcome surprise for many in the community.
Originating from Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 and evolving from the “Eclipse” map first seen in Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 (2018), Avalon’s concept hasn’t fully resonated. Initial player feedback has been mixed, leaning towards negative.
A significant point of contention is the temporary removal of all other Warzone modes, leaving only the new “Black Ops Royale” playlist, which exclusively features Avalon. This decision has alienated players not interested in the new content.
Furthermore, the game mode lacks custom loadouts, forcing players to rely solely on scavenged weapons and gear found on the map. Some users have compared this experience to a blend of Fortnite and a “REDSEC” style mode.
The lobby size has also drawn criticism. With a reduced maximum of 100 players on a relatively large map, many fans feel that the match tempo is uneven and engagements occur too infrequently.
