New players entering the world of Diablo IV are expressing surprise and dismay over the game’s pricing strategy for cosmetic items, particularly given that the game itself is a paid title.
Blizzard Entertainment has recently unveiled a new collection of cosmetic items for Diablo IV, featuring an unexpected crossover with the upcoming shooter DOOM: The Dark Ages. This collaboration brings a unique, dark fantasy aesthetic to the game, but it comes with a hefty price tag.
The full DOOM-themed cosmetic bundle is priced at 17,500 Platinum. To put this into perspective, purchasing 11,500 Platinum, the in-game currency, typically costs around $100 USD. While a “mega-bundle” offering for 5,700 Platinum is currently available, the overall cost for premium cosmetics remains substantial.
This pricing policy has raised eyebrows among many in the player community, but it’s not an unprecedented move for Diablo IV. Last year, the game featured a collaboration with the Berserk franchise, where acquiring the complete collection could set players back an even higher sum of 18,500 Platinum. Such premium offerings continue to fuel discussions about the value and accessibility of cosmetic content in full-price games.
