FBI Investigates Malware in Steam Games: Data & Crypto Wallet Theft

The FBI recently announced a search for potential victims who installed Steam games containing malicious software. This comes as some game developers are reportedly releasing titles with unwelcome “surprises.”

The FBI suspects that attackers targeted Steam users primarily between May 2024 and January 2026. The malware embedded in these games was designed to steal personal data and empty cryptocurrency wallets.

During the ongoing investigation, the FBI identified several compromised games, including BlockBlasters, Chemia, Dashverse / DashFPS, Lampy, Lunara, PirateFi, and Tokenova.

The FBI is currently urging affected individuals to provide information about their experiences regarding these incidents.
