Helldivers 2 PC Version Drastically Reduced in Size: Now Only 20GB

The PC version of Helldivers 2 now occupies significantly less space on players’ storage drives.

Arrowhead Game Studios recently transitioned all PC players to an optimized, compact client, discontinuing support for the older, larger version.

Previously, Helldivers 2 would consume between 140-150 GB of storage. Now, it requires just over 20 GB. The substantial original size was initially explained by the need to support HDD drives, where game data was duplicated to enhance loading speeds.

However, after extensive internal testing, Arrowhead Game Studios successfully identified and implemented a solution to significantly optimize Helldivers 2’s file size. Owners of traditional HDD drives can still enjoy the game, but it now demands a mere fraction of the previous storage space.
