Jean Grey and Time Travel: Insiders Confirm Sadie Sink’s Role in ‘Spider-Man: A New Day’

The mystery surrounding Sadie Sink’s character in “Spider-Man: A New Day” is finally beginning to unravel.

Multiple reliable insiders have now independently asserted that Sadie Sink is indeed set to portray the iconic role of Jean Grey in the upcoming film “Spider-Man: A New Day.” After a year of conflicting rumors, this particular version of events has once again gained prominence.

Speculation first arose in the spring of 2025 following the actress’s casting, with various sources quickly linking her to Jean Grey. However, Sink herself publicly dismissed these claims, notably mentioning that hair color could always be changed, which only added to the project’s ambiguity.

Insider Jeff Sneider recently declared his confidence in this information, stating that Sink is unequivocally playing Jean Grey. Sneider had previously reported this but retracted his statement amid the swirl of contradictory rumors. Now, he asserts his certainty is based on data from the later stages of production.

This information is further corroborated by Cryptic HD, who adds that Sadie Sink’s portrayal of Jean Grey will feature a visual reinterpretation, akin to the one Sue Storm received in “Fantastic Four: First Steps.” Her look is also said to draw inspiration from the character’s depiction in the animated series “X-Men ’97.”

Furthermore, the character is described as “time-displaced” – implying that she may arrive in the primary MCU universe from a different era or even an alternate reality. This narrative device has been utilized in the comics before and offers a convenient way to introduce mutants without directly tying them to the current cinematic universe’s chronology.

While Marvel Studios has yet to officially confirm these details, the convergence of reports from multiple insiders strongly suggests that “A New Day” could serve as a pivotal entry point for the X-Men into the MCU. This aligns logically with the widespread expectation that the next phase of the Marvel Cinematic Universe will heavily feature mutants.

“Spider-Man: A New Day” is scheduled for release on July 31, 2026.
