Long-awaited expansion of towing mechanics is finally becoming a reality for fans of Euro Truck Simulator 2 and American Truck Simulator.

SCS Software, the developers, have announced Update 1.59, which will introduce significant changes to the existing gameplay mechanics.

A key new feature will be “Roadside Recovery.” Unlike the current system, which only allows players to tow their truck to the nearest service center, version 1.59 will enable players to return their vehicle to the road directly from the scene of an incident, allowing them to continue their current delivery without interruption.

SCS Software clarifies that if a trailer is detached before towing, the trailer itself will remain in its original position, and only the tractor will be moved.

Furthermore, to prevent abuse, the “Roadside Recovery” function will have limitations: if a player drives too far from the incident site, it will become unavailable.

This new capability will prove useful for both single-player and multiplayer sessions, as players will no longer have to return from a service center to rejoin their friends after a minor accident.

The exact release date for Update 1.59 for both games has not yet been announced.
