Several questionable and low-quality titles have recently vanished from the PlayStation Store, suggesting a new cleanup effort by Sony.
A common strategy among some developers is to target PlayStation players known as “Platinum trophy hunters” – individuals dedicated to unlocking every achievement in a game. This lucrative audience is often catered to with numerous simplistic, repetitive games designed to offer quick and effortless Platinum trophies.
Furthermore, there are studios that release “clone” games, mimicking popular titles in an attempt to capitalize on trending names and established fanbases.
Regular players have long criticized Sony for allowing such projects to proliferate in its digital storefront. In response, the company periodically conducts purges of these low-effort games. It appears a significant wave of deletions swept through the PS Store in early April.
Players observed the disappearance of games from publishers such as GOGAME Console Publisher, VRCFORGE Studios, and Welding Byte. Among the titles removed were “I Am Busy Digging a Hole,” “Six Seven Nights,” “Tune My Car,” “Card Shop Game Store,” “Cat Life Simulator,” and many others.
