Nvidia has issued an official statement addressing the recent criticism surrounding the presentation of its DLSS 5 technology. The company pinned a comment directly beneath the demonstration video, aiming to clarify the key features of this new version of its upscaling and graphics enhancement system.
In its statement, Nvidia emphasized that game developers will retain complete artistic control over how DLSS 5 impacts the visual aspects of their projects. The Software Development Kit (SDK) provided includes robust tools for adjusting effect intensity, fine-tuning color correction, and even masking specific areas of a scene where the technology’s application might be undesirable. Furthermore, Nvidia assured that DLSS 5 will remain an entirely optional feature for players, allowing them to choose whether to enable it.
The company also specifically refuted the widespread misconception that DLSS 5 is merely an “AI filter” overlaid onto an image. Nvidia explained that the technology operates fundamentally differently: it utilizes comprehensive data on color and motion vectors from each frame to construct the final image, ensuring it remains deeply “tied” and true to the original 3D content rather than simply applying a post-processing layer.
