Three years after its initial launch, the free-to-play massively multiplayer online game (MMO) Tower of Fantasy is preparing to cease operations on the PlayStation 4. Developer Hotta Studio and publisher Perfect World have officially announced the end of support for the game’s PS4 version.
While Tower of Fantasy will remain fully accessible on PlayStation 5, PC, and mobile devices, PlayStation 4 users must prepare for the eventual discontinuation of their console version.
The developers candidly cited the technical limitations of the older generation console as the primary reason for this decision.
The shutdown timeline is as follows:
- April 7, 2026: The game will be removed from the PlayStation Store for PS4.
- September 22, 2026: In-game purchases for the PS4 version will be disabled.
- October 20, 2026: The PS4 servers will be completely shut down.

It’s important to note that this move is not a result of dwindling player interest. Tower of Fantasy continues to maintain a stable player base and holds a respectable rating of 3.72/5 on the PS Store. The core issues are attributed to performance constraints and limitations on application size inherent to the PlayStation 4 hardware.
Crucially, the developers have confirmed that player progress will be preserved. All in-game content and statistics can be freely migrated to other supported platforms, ensuring players can continue their adventure without losing their hard-earned achievements.
