PlayStation 6 for $1000? Analysts and Insiders Discuss Sony’s Potential Console Price

The potential price of the PlayStation 6 is a hot topic among analysts and industry insiders, fueled by concerns that next-generation consoles will be significantly more expensive due to rising component costs.

Renowned insider KeplerL2 weighed in on the discussion, suggesting that the manufacturing cost for the PS6 could be around $760. This estimate, he noted, might allow for a retail price of $699. However, KeplerL2 expressed skepticism that Sony would opt for this price point, especially considering the diminished direct competition from Xbox in the current market landscape.

On the other hand, not all experts share this optimistic view regarding Sony’s future pricing strategy. Some analysts present a more pessimistic outlook, anticipating a higher price tag. For instance, analyst Toto believes that a $999 price for at least one version of the PS6 is a very real possibility.

Echoing similar concerns, analyst van Drunen suggested that if the current shortages of memory components persist, a “console priced at $1000 could become the new norm.” This highlights the wide range of opinions and the significant uncertainty surrounding the future price of Sony’s next-generation console.
