The initial launch of the action RPG Crimson Desert was met with a mixed reception, but the tides are turning for Pearl Abyss’s ambitious title. Initially, players on Steam voiced numerous complaints regarding the game’s control system, the execution of certain mechanics, and some of the developers’ design choices, leading to a “Mixed” review status.
However, a dedicated effort from developer Pearl Abyss, involving the consistent release of patches, has significantly improved the game’s state. This past weekend, Crimson Desert achieved a remarkable milestone, setting a new peak concurrent player record on Steam with over 276,000 users online.
The ongoing improvements have also positively impacted its community reception. Crimson Desert now boasts a “Very Positive” rating on Steam, with 81% of its 95,000-plus user reviews being favorable. This turnaround highlights the developers’ commitment to addressing player feedback and enhancing the overall gaming experience, proving that a rocky start can be overcome with dedication.
