Bungie has rolled out update 1.0.5 for its extraction shooter, Marathon. This update was deployed during scheduled maintenance and brings a host of changes and new content.
A major highlight of this update is the overhaul of the economic interaction system and an expansion of the loot mechanics. Players can now discover three new implant perks, exclusively available on the newly introduced Cryo Archive map. This new high-level location is accessible exclusively to players who have reached level 25.
The new implant perks found in the Cryo Archive include:
- Covert Recovery: Boosts self-regeneration and healing effectiveness while inside smoke.
- Freeloader: Knife eliminations grant ability energy.
- Panic Response: Healing at low health temporarily enhances mobility.
Additionally, three new weapon modifiers have been introduced:
- Punishment: Inflicts increased damage against specific enemy types.
- Testament: Provides a bonus to range and aim assist.
- Hurricane: Improves aerial stability.
The developers have also implemented several notable gameplay adjustments. Players can now activate evacuation beacons even when downed or near death. Camera shake from melee attacks has been reduced, and the post-run observation time has been extended to 120 seconds. Issues with ability synchronization and incorrect finisher functionality have also been addressed.
Significant modifications have been made to the Runners themselves. For instance:
- Assassin: Received a visual fix for their smoke screen.
- Thief: Their drone can no longer loot players during evacuation, a notable nerf to one of their more distinctive abilities.
- Rook: Is now available to play from level zero.
The UESC AI faction has also seen improvements, with bugs related to enemy freezing and incorrect behavior being resolved.
Furthermore, dozens of other bugs have been fixed, encompassing issues with achievements, item displays, challenge progression, and overall network code stability.
