Baldur’s Gate 3 Star Jennifer English Almost Missed Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 Role

Jennifer English, actress from Baldur's Gate 3 and Clair Obscur: Expedition 33

The distinctive voice of a key character in the upcoming game Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 could have been entirely different. Jennifer English, an actress celebrated for her work in Baldur’s Gate 3 and now cast as Mael in Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, recently shared a surprising anecdote during an interview with Radio Times Gaming. She confessed that she came perilously close to missing out on the role.

English described her usual approach to auditions, often leaving them until the very last minute. She explained, “I forget [about preparing the material] and hastily record wherever I am.” This spontaneous method was no different for her Expedition 33 audition. In fact, she ended up recording her tape for Mael at two in the morning, while lying in bed.

Despite the rushed and unconventional circumstances, her impromptu recording deeply impressed the creators of Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, ultimately leading to her successful casting as Mael.
